In Catherine Mansfield’s short story ‘A Cup of Tea’, Rosemary, a snobbish upper class woman, meets a poor girl called Miss Smith who asks for a cup of tea. Her husband's rejection reveals his hypocrisy, and he finally sends the girl away. The Story explores themes of class consciousness, the status of women, consumerism and materialism.
